Also see PONYKAT'S HELPFUL HINTS at the bottom of this page!!

This is the mother of all cart races and will include the FFF Grand Prix course and Linden Roads covering 37 sims.  Ponies will encounter bad lag, sim crossings, vehicular traffic, and possibly pedestrians.

THE RACE:

Ponies will start at the FFF barn 60 seconds apart.  Ponies will drive the first half of the FFF Grand Prix Course and exit the farm and make a left onto Linden Route 9.   Ponies will then follow the course described below and marked on the map.  After completing the circuit, ponies will then reenter the farm and complete the second half of the FFF Grand Prix course before crossing the finish line.  Scroll down to see MAPS of the on-sim and highway parts of this race!

Start at the FFF Grand Prix start line
Follow the CYAN arrows to complete the first part of the FFF Grand Prix Course
Follow the GREEN arrows out of the farm and turn left on Linden Route 9
Turn Right on Route 10 in Yeot
Turn Right on The Shortcut in Nagrim

Turn Right on Linden Route 9 in Dansim
Turn Left and follow the RED arrows back onto the farm at FFF
Follow the CYAN arrows to complete the FFF Grand Prix Course and cross the finish line.

PLEASE COME TO FFF AND PRACTICE THIS EVENT BEFORE THE CONTEST DATE !!!  IT WILL HELP YOU TREMENDOUSLY TO KNOW THE FFF GRAND PRIX COURSE AND THE ROUTE ON THE LINDEN ROADS OUTLINED ON THE ENCLOSED MAP.  FFF IS ALWAYS OPEN AND ALWAYS WELCOMES YOU TO COME AND PRACTICE HERE.

RULES:

  1. All ponies must be in proper pony attire.  Bridle, Harness, Bit, & Tail should be worn at all times.
  2. Judges will be stationed along the race course at check points.  Ponies will need to pass by all the check points in order for the course to be considered completed.  DO NOT STOP AT CHECK POINTS, just keep racing and the judges will take down your names.
  3. As this race will take us onto PG rated sims, all ponies should have their genitals covered and female ponies should have their breasts covered as well.
  4. All ponies should respect the property, rights, and privacy of all residents along the race route.
  5. Collisions of carts may happen by accident or on purpose, since it is impossible to tell the difference in a race of this sort, neither the judges, event hosts, nor FFF is responsible for the actions of others and no protests will be heard.
  6. Each pony will get one attempt at this race, if the pony loses their cart, gets stuck in a lag loop they cannot get out of, or suffers a computer crash, they will be out of the race.
  7. All ponies must complete the race course and finish the race still strapped into their cart.
  8. All carts will be provided by FFF.  No other carts are allowed.
  9. Drivers may come along for the ride but are not required.
  10. Winners will be based on the fastest times. Ribbons will be awarded for the top 5 times.

PonyKat's Helpful Hints

Here are a few things I found helped me in my 4 runs (as of January 24) around the course:

  1. Turn down your Draw Distance.  Some viewers let you do that with a command in the Chat box.  If not, you have to go into Preferences > Graphics > Custom.  Turn it down as far as you can; on my viewer that's 64 meters.  (You can play with other Graphics settings too.  But write down what they were the first time!)

  2. Put up your MAP.   Open the map, and push it to the right side of the screen so you can just see where you are, plus a bit more.  This is a HUGE HELP as you run on the LInden Road; you can see curves and intersections coming way in advance.

  3. Take DOWN as many HUDs as you can!   You don't need your PonyTalk HUDs blocking your view and slowing you down.

  4. Simplify your Avi.  Take off anything you can that's scripted or flexi.  (But NOT your required pony gear--bit, bridle, hooves and tail!  That's cheating.)

  5. PRINT THIS PAGE!  That will put the maps and directions right in front of you.
Good Luck!  May the sim crossing gods be with you on Friday January 28!
