EPILOGUE
Ria rode home very deep in thought, even as Trina was talking the entire way home about what a wonderful time they had. She just could not bear the thought of having to go back to her other life again, but that very fact was bothering her a lot. She whinnied softly whenever she saw Trina's eyes flick to her in the rear-view mirror so Trina would think her pony was listening, but she really was just lost in her own thoughts and feelings.
When they got home, Ria climbed out of the back of the car and held her hooves out so Trina could load her up with as much tack as she could carry in her arms. It took a couple of trips, and Trina had to take her own things inside the house as well. Ria stepped into her little barn; it felt good to be home.
And she wanted the barn to really BE her home. She had made a decision.
When Trina came out to her, Ria pointed with both forehooves to her bit, and moved her jaw up and down (what little she could).
"Pony Ria, are you telling me you want to talk to me?" Ria STOMPED much harder than usual. "OK, OK! Give me just a moment." Trina didn't know what was so critical; after all, Ria would be out of tack and back to being Katerina in just a short while. But she unfastened the bit and removed it from her pony's mouth.
Ria paused--this was the first time she had ever spoken out loud while in tack and it felt very strange--but then she said,
"My darling Trina, I don't know how to say this, so I'll just blurt it out: I don't want to be Katerina anymore. I just want to be RIA from now on. I want to be YOUR PONY! I want to love you like this, even more than I have loved you for all of these years. I feel like I have found myself; like Ria has been the true me, inside of me, my entire life."
She hung her head; she had no idea what her loving wife's response might be. It could be the end of everything!
But Trina looked closely at her, smiled lovingly, and ran her fingers through Ria's mane. "Don't you know I thought this might happen, dear pony? Nobody on Earth knows you better than I do, and after reading all of the things you've written, learning much more about ponyplay myself, and then seeing your absolute joy over the past three days, how could I believe you could just go back to your old life?"
Ria smiled and began to cry, and she wrapped her arms around her wife. She tried to talk, but the words wouldn't come...only soft nickers that flowed from her along with her tears.
Trina leaned back a bit, and looked deeply into her pony/wife's eyes. "There are things we have to do, pony Ria, to close your other life down. You will have to sign some things, talk to some people, do what legally must be done to give up all of Katerina's responsibilities. I've looked into some of these things but we must make sure it is done properly." Ria nodded, understanding how important these things would be.
"So here is what we will do, Ria. You will be my pony from now on, but if we have to go and do these legal things, you are going to have to go back to being Katerina for just a little while." Ria nodded and stomped.
"And while this is going on, we are going to build you a bigger barn. Not huge, but enough that you can have a REAL stall, and places for your gear. And, I think there should be a second stall so you can have a friend over sometime. We can invite Willow! Would you like that?"
A stomp wasn't enough of an answer. Ria whinnied loudly and jumped up in the air, landing on her big hooves with a THUNK.
It took about a month to get everything in order, but Trina found a barn kit that went up in just a couple of weeks. Ria moved in and began living her pony life right away, and truly did love her life.
Over the next months, Ria went through some changes, both mental and physical. As she communicated solely as a pony now, her vocal cords relaxed and no longer could create the vibrations needed for human speech. Her whinnies and nickers got lower, which pleased her very much. She also had pretty much forgotten how to talk, and although she still had no problem hearing everyone around her, the only words she actually heard were the ones that mattered to her, like pony, Ria, cart, food, water, bridle and such. All the other human conversation just floated by her in a blur.
Her hands and feet, embedded tightly in the hooves, changed as well. The hands, always curled up in a fist, became locked in that position; while her feet locked themselves in the straight-down angle forced by the hooves. Since her muscles, blood vessels and nerves all adjusted as well, she became more and more comfortable. (And during those short times when Trina had to remove her hooves for cleaning, Ria was unable to stand up.)
A year of happy pony life passed, and the one thing Ria found she really wanted was a REAL tail! The tailplug was, to say the least, inconvenient, and it just hung behind her. Trina talked with some local doctors, and found one who was willing to create a real tail for her and graft it onto the base of her spine, connecting some of her muscles to it so she could move it a little herself. The surgery would require bending her upper body and her pelvis so that the tail would stick out properly.
When the doctor showed her a picture of how she should look at the end, Ria stomped and whinnied excitedly! The operation would give her a wonderful equine look, thrusting her breasts forward and her tail back; it looked perfect.
She went in for surgery a month later, and had to wear a body cast for several weeks. All of this was out of tack (it was not a veterinary hospital after all) and she was quite miserable having to sleep in a hospital bed in a sterile room, instead of on the blanket and soft hay of her stall. But Trina visited her every day and always brought a little handful of straw with her so Ria could breathe in the aroma; it was the very best time of each day.
The day finally came that the cast could come off. The doctor and orderlies carefully swung her legs over the side of the bed, and Trina tied her hooves on so she could stand up. They helped her stand, and held her as the doctor carefully sawed off the body cast, revealing her newly shaped body.
There was a mirror, and they turned her so she could see her new profile. She whinnied in joy as she saw her new self; her body bending forward with her derriere now pushed up and back...
And the BEAUTIFUL new tail!! It came out of her body higher than before; at the base of her back where it belonged! And she gave just a momentary thought, and it moved! She instantly found it so easy to move it back and forth, and loved the feeling on the back of her legs. She whinnied for joy, and embraced the doctor (she did not have her forehooves on yet) and gave him a big kiss on the cheek (no bit or bridle yet either).
They set Ria in a wheelchair (so she would not scratch up the floors of the hospital with her hooves) and rolled her out to the door. "Ria, I have one more surprise for you! Look!"
Instead of the car, there was a van sitting outside the door. Trina opened the side doors, and the whole floor was covered with straw. There were places in the walls for her tack as well. "Get in, pony Ria! Let's take you home in style. No more folding yourself up onto the back of the car; from now on I take you in this van, or you take me in the cart."
Ria climbed in carefully (she was still a little sore) and whinnied happily as she lay down in the soft straw. Trina thanked all the hospital staff who had come to see them off, and Ria heard them applaud as they drove away.
From then on, Ria felt fully a pony. Trina cared for her as she had for her Katerina; Ria loved her Trina more than ever. Everyone in their town knew them; they often visited the Ranch and sometimes the ponies and owners from there came to their home and the ponies could nuzzle and enjoy each others' company.
A beautiful life for a beautiful ponygirl!
